Last full day in Taiwan

Now that we had Gracie's Visa in hand, we were able to relax and really enjoy our last day in Taiwan. We went to the Taipei LDS Temple Grounds. It was a Saturday and many members of the Church were there on the grounds and in the Church building adjacent to the Temple Grounds. It was a Stake Temple Day for a Stake in the South part of Taiwan. It was really, really a nice time seeing so many Taiwanese members of the church. We really hope Gracie can come back someday to visit this special place. We talked with some American missionaries and they gave us tips on a couple of great places to eat. The best tip was the shaved ice shop called "Ice Monster." It was very crowded, but well worth the wait. They filled a large bowl with shaved ice, smoothered it in a sugary syrup then covered it with 3 varieties of fruits, we chose kiwi, strawberries, and mango, then they put a large scoop of sherbet on top of that! We found a nearby playground with some shade and sat and enjoyed this yummy treat.
We then walked a few block to the Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall. The grounds there are beautiful. We could see why our friends The Chang's said it is a great place to have engagement photo's taken. There were several groups of older men, sitting in the shade, playing a board game with lines and black and white round pieces as markers of some sort? It looked interesting.
With being in a wide open space we let Gracie out of her stroller and she LOVED running around, chasing the birds, feeding the birds her crackers, and justing being a 2 year old. These are the times we loved best about being in Taiwan. When we got to see more of the real personality of our new daughter. She is a happy, fun little girl with a strong spirit. Everytime we got in a cab she'd cuddle up to Heather, close her eyes tight, and fall asleep. We wonder if she always sleeps this much or if this is a way of her showing and dealing with the inner stress she must be going through? We do have much hope that is won't take long for her to feel she can trust us and rely on us.
